Michael Goode is relishing the challenge at Deeping Rangers next season.

He returned to the club this summer as manager following
Tuncay Korkmaz’s decision to step down at the end of
last term due to his work
commitments.

Goode has already agreed deals with four experienced members of the squad plus a handful of youngsters to stay at Deeping.

Rangers have also brought back Deeping-based players Matt Porter, Luke Avis and Luke Hunnings from Goode’s former club Peterborough Northern Star.

Last week Deeping revealed ex-Sleaford Town captain Scott Coupland will be joining them.

Goode said: “I have always been impressed with him up against my sides.

“He plays in the little hole behind the strikers and last season he scored 20 goals in a bottom-four team.

“He’s very difficult to mark as a small, mobile and clever player.

“He’s looking forward to playing for a side who will
hopefully be towards the top
of the league.

“When myself and Darren Jarvis left Star, they lost 6-1 to Sleaford and Scott got a hat-trick which cemented those ideas I had about him.”

Goode is looking to sign a winger and a striker before the pre-season programme.

He added: “I didn’t want to rip apart the squad because there are a lot of young lads who have shown promise alongside the more experienced players.

“I felt it was important to keep them together.

“Apart from last season, Deeping have always been a top-six side so that’s clearly the direction we want to be moving back towards.

“I’m looking forward to
getting everything organised but the squad is in a pretty good shape at the moment.

“The first commitment of all those players has been to the club which is not always
the case at our level when they move around. They are happy to stay at the club.”

First-team coach Martin Bond has joined the new-look management team.

Goode expects assistant-boss Jack Marsden to also be “a very important part” of the Deeping squad next season.

Goode said: “He’s only 26
but he has got some coaching qualifications and this will be a chance to get him involved.

“He was our captain at Star but he suffered a bad injury in the last pre-season game.

“He can play at left-back, centre-back or as a defensive midfielder.”
