Victory at the Zeeco Stadium on Saturday could provide a psychological boost in the race for promotion as well as a cup final spot.

Stamford and Spalding United are both tipped to be contenders at the top of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League’s First Division South this season.

They will meet at the Sir Halley Stewart Field on Bank Holiday Monday, August 29, in only their fourth league game of the campaign.

This weekend’s prize is a place in the Lincolnshire FA Senior Cup final.

Spalding manager Dave Frecklington’s former club Lincoln United are waiting to face the winners.

He said: “It will be a good test in our last game before the league season starts.”

Striker Rees Longville-Daley – who poked home the last-minute winner at Boston United in the quarter-final – is set to sign forms to complete Spalding’s 18-man squad.

Frecklington added: “He asked for a trial and he has impressed us.”

Andy Wright and Jenk Acar are both cup-tied.
