Spalding United need to hit back again on Saturday after last week’s disappointment.

The Tulips have done it previously by winning the next game following a defeat.

Having lost 1-0 to second-placed Witton Albion, they have a chance to protect the advantage over their play-off rivals with a home win over Belper Town.

Boss Chris Rawlinson said: “I watched Belper away to Newcastle Town a couple of weeks ago.

“They have got some very experienced players who have been at this level for a long time. But it has to be all about ourselves rather than looking at the opposition.

“We started poorly last Saturday but Witton are a good side. We were on top for parts of the second half and we deserved credit. Maybe a draw would have been a fair result.

You can’t think it’s all doom and gloom after losing a game. We look at why we lost and what we can do to affect the next result.

“We have to make sure we hit back with a win. If we pick up a couple of wins we will be back on our points target.

“We are on course for the play-offs, although we know anyone can win or lose four games in a row.”

Left-back Adam Jackson and attacking midfielder Conor Higginson are back in the squad.

Defender Neal Spafford and central midfielder Nathan Whitehead are banned.
