Bourne Town 2, Yaxley 1

A fine Bourne display saw them spring the first surprise in this season’s UCL Knockout Cup on Tuesday evening.

Scott Carter took advantage of a rebound to give the Cuckoos the lead a minute before half time.

Danny Pick levelled for The Wakes from an Alec Robinson pass after 69 minutes.

Home keeper Aaron Bellairs saved an Andy Furnell header as Yaxley responded while Pick was thwarted by a great Aaron Butcher save.

Two minutes into added time Pick smashed the ball past Yaxley keeper Butcher to give the underdogs a place in the first round.

Bourne: Bellairs, Elger, Cardall, Hood (Dunn), Jesson, Rose, Moss (Brockbank), Dunn, Robinson, Pick, Caldicott.

Attendance: 108.
