DARREN Munton has resigned as Bourne Town manager after witnessing another disappointing defeat on Saturday.
The Wakes legend decided to end his fourth stint at the helm in the immediate aftermath of a 2-1 Abbey Lawn beating at the hands of Potton in UCL Division One.
Munton, who will remain at the club in some capacity, admitted he was out of ideas after enduring a tough start to the season.
He said: “I do a lot of hard work behind the scenes and that will continue, but the club needs a new man with new ideas in the dugout.
“We’ve been making the same mistakes all season long and just aren’t learning the lesson. A lot of the players have proved they are not good enough and I feel responsible as the man that brought them to the club.”
In Munton’s final game as boss, Jake Mason put the hosts ahead (44), before Joe Aris (54) and Chris Sams (75) put Potton ahead.
Mason then saw a last-gasp penalty saved, as Bourne slumped to an eighth league loss of the campaign.
