Adam Jackson will be heading back to Spalding United after a transfer deal was agreed with Holbeach United.
Tulips boss Dave Frecklington feels the 28-year-old left-back will bring experience and leadership in their push for promotion.
He’s my sort of player as he gets about the opposition and makes sure his team-mates are doing their jobs properly as well.Dave Frecklington
Jackson enjoyed three successful seasons at the Sir Halley Stewart Field and returned to his hometown club Holbeach last summer.
Frecklington said: “We’re hoping to bring in Jackson before the weekend.
“We’ve agreed a deal to sign him from Holbeach but he played for them on Wednesday night (against Peterborough Sports).
“I always liked him as a player when I was in charge at Lincoln United.
“He’s my sort of player as he gets about the opposition and makes sure his team-mates are doing their jobs properly as well.
“We have been missing some of those leadership qualities and we need more experience.”
Jackson should be back in the Tulips’ defence for the trip to Basford United in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South on Saturday.
Frecklington is looking to restore the defensive unit from last term as skipper Nathan Stainfield and fellow centre-half Neal Spafford could return from injuries.
Nathan Whitehead has served a three-match ban and Connor Higginson is close to full fitness.
The Tulips manager said: “Whitehead plays a massive part in what we are trying to do and having our strongest squad available should help us to win games again.”
