In a good night for local football all our teams progressed in cup games this evening (Tuesday).
Spalding eased past Boston Town 3-0 at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field, Deeping Rangers recorded an impressive 4-0 victory at Harrowby United and Bourne Town pulled off a great 2-1 win against Yaxley at the Abbey Lawn.
Division One side Bourne’s result was one of the shocks of the first round of the United Counties League Knockout Cup as they came from behind to beat their premier division opponents with two goals from Danny Pick in front of a vociferous home crowd.
In the same competition Deeping bounced back from their home thrashing against Swaffham in the FA Vase on Saturday to put four past Harrowby. Their scorers were Matt Heron (2), Alex Beck and Ryan Oliver.
And in the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy Spalding recorded yet another clean sheet as they dismissed Boston Town with goals from Dan Cotton, Sam Mullarkey and goal machine Andrew Tidswell.
Tomorrow (Wednesday) evening Holbeach United entertain Peterborough Northern Star in the league cup.
