FOOTBALL: Deeping fight back to hold Tulips

SPALDING UNITED 1 DEEPING RANGERS 1: MARK Jones’ second-half strike earned Deeping a deserved draw on Tuesday night – meaning the Tulips are still without a win in four competitive games this season.

Simon Mowbray had fired Andy Stanhope’s Spalding ahead in the UCL Premier Division derby on 30 minutes, but Jones levelled nine minutes into the second half at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.

Both sides could have won it, with Rangers’ Dave Burton-Jones twice hitting the woodwork and Rob Hughes following suit late on.

Elsewhere, Pinchbeck United finally secured their first win of the season as they prevailed 4-3 at Leverington Sports.

Tom Gosling (2), Mark Lovelace and Oliver Maltby bagged the goals.

See Thursday’s Spalding Guardian for more on both games.
