Holbeach United joint-boss John Chand blasted the late decision to rearrange their Lincolnshire Senior Trophy tie as an “embarrassment”.
But he insists the Tigers are prepared to play on two successive nights next week.
The cup game at home to Boston Town – who pulled out by claiming the Poachers squad was “ravaged by injury, illness and unavailability” – is set to go ahead next Wednesday.
Holbeach are already due to visit Sleaford Town in the UCL Premier Division on Tuesday.
Chand said: “I think it’s an embarrassment that a semi-professional club can call off a cup game at 2pm because they have injuries.
“They have 24 players who are signed on. If it was my decision, I would withdraw our club from the cup.
“Our league progress is far more important than a cup which is not run in the right way.
“I have got fond memories of winning the Senior Trophy for two years running. But this has left a very bitter taste.
“We want to play a league game at Sleaford on Tuesday even if we have to field the reserves on Wednesday.”
The rearrangement also means winger Lee Beeson must complete his three-match suspension when the Tigers take on Eynesbury Rovers at Carter’s Park on Saturday.
Chand added: “I think they are a better team than their league position shows.
“It’s important that we don’t become complacent or get into those habits.”
Meanwhile, the Football Foundation has awarded a grant worth £2,490 from the Premier League & The FA Facilities Fund to Holbeach United Youth for replacement of existing unsafe goalposts.
