EXPERIENCED Tulips player/coach Danny Hussey admitted that the right team won on Tuesday night.
The ex-Holbeach defender, who missed the game because of a groin injury, feels Spalding are struggling to cope with the loss of key midfield men Rob Hughes and Liam Hook.
But he praised the Tigers’ performance – and backed them for a top six finish in the UCL Premier Division.
He said: “I thought Holbeach deserved it, they’re a good side. We were the better team in September, but this time it wasn’t to be.
“Obviously the lads are disappointed to lose, but we were much better than Saturday (5-0 loss at St Ives) and the guys put in a real shift.
“I thought we had a couple of decent chances and could have won the game if we’d been more clinical, but they had a lot of possession.
“You can’t say Holbeach didn’t deserve it though. I spoke to a few of their players after the game and I know they have an incentive to be in the top six. I’m sure they could do that.”
Hussey expects to be back in action in the next two or three weeks and is happy with his recovery.
