A tale of two second-half penalties saw Spalding United extend their unbeaten run to 11 league games.

The Tulips could not claim a ninth successive win as they were held 1-1 at Lincoln United in the Evo-Stik League First Division South.

Jamie Thurlbourne put them ahead from the spot on 52 minutes but Daniel Brooks levelled 12 minutes later.

The result keeps Pat Rayment’s men in fourth place ahead of Sunday’s showndown with leaders Sutton Coldfield Town at the Sir Halley Stewart Field.

Meanwhile, Holbeach United cut the gap again in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League’s Premier Division title race.

With pacesetters AFC Rushden & Diamonds having their derby abandoned due to floodlight failure, the Tigers took full advantage.

Matty Nolan, making his home debut, got the only goal when he nodded in after 27 minutes at Carter’s Park against Wisbech Town.

Holbeach held on under late pressure for a seventh successive win - including four clean sheets.
