Mark Jones should make a timely return to Spalding United’s matchday squad next week.
The striker missed the start of the season with a knee injury.
But he is back in training and looks set to return to action soon.
Tulips boss Pat Rayment said: “He trained exceptionally well on Tuesday night.
“If he doesn’t have any reaction then I would expect him to be back with us over the next seven to 10 days.
“He could possibly be in the squad for Tuesday’s game at Coalville Town or the FA Cup tie next weekend.”
Jones’ return comes as Spalding await an update on the hamstring injury suffered by forward Ash Burbeary last weekend.
But the Tulips have lost central defender Nathan Stainfield for at least the next month due to a broken wrist.
Rayment added that talks are ongoing over a potential deal to bring in a striker.
Spalding are back in Evo-Stik League First Division South action on Saturday at home to Kidsgrove Athletic.
