Tom Waumsley’s hat-trick fired Spalding United to their biggest win since early November.

Last season’s top scorer had failed to find the net in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division South until the start of February.

But Saturday’s treble in the 4-0 home victory over Goole took Waumsley’s tally to five goals during the month.

Boss Marcus Ebdon said: “It’s always a lovely feeling when you win!

“To be honest, I don’t think we’ve had a lot of luck recently and we got a little bit with Tom’s second goal.

“But it was a really good all-round performance from the lads.

We haven’t been taking our chances in other games and we did on Saturday. I would prefer to spread them out a bit!

“I’m pleased for Tom as he has been getting into positions without too much luck in front of goal and this time it all came together for him.

“I thought Stuart Eason contributed on his debut but then he got a twisted ankle.

“Jonny Lockie did well on his full debut down the right.

“I don’t think Michael Duggan had a lot to do but it’s pleasing to have a clean sheet.

“We played well for 90 minutes and we haven’t done that for a while.”
