Spalding United begin their pre-season programme tonight.

The new-look Tulips squad – boosted by a series of summer signings – will get together for the first time ahead of the new campaign.

And boss Pat Rayment admits there could be another couple of additions before the big kick-off in the Evo-Stik League First Division South.

He said: “I was quite lucky to get my business taken care of early because those players wanted the deals done and dusted.

“But I have got some money left in the budget to bring more players in.

“We will have to see what happens and, of course, it could depend on whether we pick up any injuries in pre-season.

“I’m happy in terms of the quality of players here now.

“There are funds available as Ian Ross decided not to join us due to travelling commitments and Nick Conroy is not able to take up the position of goalkeeping coach and back-up keeper.

“We will also have to nurse through Andrew Tidswell after injury.”

Spalding’s first friendly is away to Peterborough Sports a week on Saturday.
