Spalding Harriers are out of the Sharman Burgess Sports Cup after a 9-1 mauling by Swineshead Institute.

In a second round tie hastily moved to Swineshead’s Causeway, Harriers ended up wishing the game had fallen foul of the weather as substitute Mark Sharman netted four of the Premier Division side’s goals.

Tim Tyler, Ryan Barker, Kieran Rose, Alex Snaith and Jack Houghton completed the rout over Division Two side Harriers.

Surprisingly, only five games were lost to the rain which fell on Saturday, one of them being Spalding Harriers Reserves trip to Boston Atletic in Division Three.

Harriers came away with a 4-2 win, with Sam Atkinson scoring twice to add to goals by Dilip Tamang and Steve Davies.

In the Premier Division, Wyberton Reserves lost 4-2 at home to Benington for whom Daniel Busch bagged a hat-trick while Pointon drew 1-1 at Billinghay Athletic, Tom Williams securing a point for Pointon.
