Deeping Under 13 clinched a league and cup double with a convincing 4-0 victory on Saturday.
A double from right-winger Alexander Moroz, a 40th goal of the season from prolific striker Alfie Ferguson and one from substitute Oliver Foster clinched the title against powerleague Colts.
With Deeping Rangers’ first team having completed their UCL campaign, the Under 13s were able to play on their pitch for the first time and they banged in the goal just as impressively as Tuncay Korkmaz’s side have been doing there all season.
The fact they impressed on the bigger first-team pitch bodes well as John Carver’s side will get to play on Peterborough United’s London Road pitch in the PFA Cup Final on May 16.
They will face the only team to take a point off them this season, Holbeach.
While Holbeach may have struggled in the league, they did well in both cups and faced Deeping in the final of the league cup as well as holding the young Rangers to a 2-2 in the league.
Deeping won all of their other 15 games in the league with Ferguson and Nathan Pickering banging in 79 between them.
The pair, who joined the club this season, are the two leading scorers in the league and have delighted Carver.
He said: “They work so well for the team. Some strikers can be self-focused but not those two and they have a really good partnership.
“We didn’t really know what to expect as it’s our first season at 11-a-side but they made an impressive move up from nine-a-side. Grantham have been on our heels all season but we needed a point on Saturday and, although it wasn’t a vintage display we secured the title. It’s been a good season and hopefully we will win our final league game and then add the PFA Cup.
“Playing at London Road is something these lads will never forget.”
