ARSENAL Soccer Schools’ Football Development Centre for talented youngsters in Deeping is going from strength to strength.

The centre, which opened in September, is based at Deeping Leisure Centre on the AstroTurf surface. All currently training there have been selected as some of the the region’s best talent, ranging from under-7 to under-14 players.

All chosen players are coached by the Gunners’ staff on Friday evenings (5.30pm-8.30pm) during school terms.

Arsenal’s academy manager Mark Angel is delighted with how things are going.

He said: “This development centre will provide an opportunity for young talented players to enhance their footballing development at the same standard of a centre of excellence at a professional club.

“We have around 35 children attending now from local junior teams such as Deeping Rangers, Glinton United, Thurlby, Pinchbeck United, Crowland, Ancaster Athletic, Young Dons, Boston Town to name a few.

“The aim is to improve the children technically as players and this will hopefully improve their junior team at the same time.

“The children who train to a high standard during term time sessions will also get a chance to play against teams such as Peterborough United, Cambridge United, Lincoln City and Notts County.

“We expect this development centre to continue to be successful and I am very much looking forward to seeing these players progress.”

If you require further information as to whether your child could attend, contact Mark Angel via email at teamarsenal1@aol.com or call 07919 206347.
