JUNIOR FOOTBALL: Young Tigers on brink of flawless season

Unbeatable Holbeach United under-10s are on the verge of completing a perfect season after beating rivals Thorney under-10s 3-2 in their penultimate league match.

Willis Wright and James Clark combined well down the left to lay on the opener for Charlie Parkes, who finished coolly.
Persistent play by Clark then saw the prolific strike fire number two into the bottom corner – making it an amazing 40 for the season.

Two quick goals from Thorney made it 2-2 after the break, before keeper Jenson Patterson was forced to make a super stop.

But the young Tigers had the last word when a crunching tackle and fantastic shot by Callum Hoole sealed a 13th successive win from as many league games in the final minute.

• Callum Davis fired a fine winner to guide Holbeach United under-13s to a 1-0 win over Greenbank under-13s – and move them up to third in the table.

In a very close game between two of the league’s top four teams, the only goal came from a classic counter attack. Davis broke from the middle of the pitch and unleashed a fierce low drive into the corner.

Safe hands from keeper Simpson and strong defending from Hemstock helped Holbeach hang on for the win.

• Young Dons under-15s got back to winning ways with a comfortable 3-1 win over a stubborn Woodhall Spa under-15 side.

They started well, with Billy Bristow converting two early chances brilliantly to put the home side 2-0 up within ten minutes.

Dons kept applying the pressure and were rewarded once more when an out swinging Ashley Sandall corner was headed in by Macaulay Ealham.

Spa battled well after the break and grabbed a deserved penalty consolation.
