LONG-SERVING Holbeach United U/16s boss Debbie Rackham has paid tribute to her side after deciding to step down from the role.

Rackham, who has guided the side all the way up from Peterborough Youth League Division Four to the top flight, also wished the squad the best of luck in their future endeavours.

She said: “I have seen the team move from the Fenland League and into the Peterborough Youth League. They then worked their way from Division Four and finishing this year in Division One.

“I have decided to step down from managing the team now and wish all the lads best of luck with their future in whatever they do.

“I would like to thank the team and the families for all of their support over the years that I have been helping and managing the team.

“Also many thanks to Fowler Welch in Spalding for their help in sponsorship funds over the years and Tennyson Tyres in Holbeach for donating rain jackets this year.”

Before Rackham’s departure, seven awards were dished out at the club’s presentation night.

Highest goalscorer went to Jack Coupland, while the most improved player accolade was picked up by Jack Sharp.

Ziggy Ivatt walked away with the goal of the season gong, with David Orr bagging a players’ player and supporter’s player of the year double.

Keeper of the season was Joe Broomfield, while managers’ player was shared by David Orr and Nathan Machin.
