FOOTBALL: More county heartache for Pinchbeck

MARKET RASEN 2 PINCHBECK UNITED 1: IAN Dunn admitted that too many of his players flopped on the big stage as Pinchbeck suffered a second Lincs Junior Cup semi-final defeat in as many years.

United suffered injury time heartbreak at unfancied Rasen, having hauled themselves level 15 minutes from time through player/boss Dunn.

Despite bossing the game for large periods, Pinchbeck found themselves 1-0 down at the break.

And Dunn refused to feel sorry for himself after the shock loss – placing the blame firmly at the door of his squad.

He said: “I thought we controlled the game, but our finishing and final ball just wasn’t good enough.

“It’s frustrating, this just isn’t the kind of performance I expect from this team.

“We had more than enough chances to win and when we equalised their heads seemed to drop.

“But we couldn’t capitalise and it’s just a massive let down for everyone at the club.”

Pinchbeck’s scheduled friendly at Sleaford Town tonight has been called off.

Pinchbeck: Drury, Roberts, Marshall, Hocking, McDonnell (Cole 60), Woods (Clay 70), Wilson, Maltby (Lawrence 85), Law, Dunn, Gosling.

Saturday: Pinchbeck v Eye (PFA Senior Cup semi-final, 1.30pm).

• Moulton Harrox eased to a 3-0 derby win over Crowland Town in the Peterborough and District Premier Division on Saturday.

Bobby Patterson, Steve Mastin and Tom Panton struck the decisive goals at Broad Lane.

Elsewhere, Deeping Rangers Reserves were beaten 3-1 by title hopefuls Eye Sports, Tom Waumsley getting their solitary strike.
