FOOTBALL: King lays waste to Bourne’s unbeaten streak

RAUNDS TOWN 3 (King 17, 50 & 60) BOURNE TOWN 1 (Brockbank 8): BOURNE’S unbeaten run in 2012 was canned by a Karl King hat-trick on Saturday.

Alex Brockbank struck early on to fire Darren Munton’s men into a deserved eighth-minute lead, only for King to notch Raunds’ leveller soon after.

Two goals in ten minutes after the interval then accounted for the Wakes’ four-game unbeaten run in UCL Division One, as King completed his treble.

The defeat ensures that Bourne remain in the bottom three – but they still have a chance of reaching the Lincs FA Senior Trophy final.

They matched higher-graded rivals Holbeach in the Abbey Lawn semi-final three weeks ago, before a floodlight failure saw the tie called off. The duo will try again tonight (7.45pm), with Jason Kilbride (ankle) hoping to return.

Wakes: Gilson, Elger, Cardall (Pick), Hood (Stubbs), Smith, Jesson, Currall, Lambie, Brockbank, G Spearink, Jarman.

Saturday – Wakes v Rothwell Town (3pm).
