FOOTBALL: Tydd St Mary hit SIXTEEN goals

Tydd St Mary 16 AFC Peterborough 0: Tydd St Mary are really finding their feet now in their first season in the Peterborough League.

The Saints started well and thoroughly dominated this Division 5 clash.

Their defence, midfield and attack all played very well on a boggy pitch.

Goals came from Matt Eaton (6), Aaron Parker (4), Gary Booth (3), Phil Franklin (2) and substitute, Callum Matthews.

Sutton Bridge Utd Res 4 Holbeach Utd A 6: Holbeach made a terrific comeback after soon going 3-0 down.

Tom Coote found Garry Chappell who pulled a goal back.

Then Jamie Forman found Lewis Forman who set up Chappell to make it 2-3.

However, Sutton Bridge went into the break 4-2 up. Holbeach new signing Gavin Phillips put in a super corner for Jamie Forman’s diving header to make it 4-3.

Dave Shepperd’s through ball found Chappell for his hat-trick goal and Jonny Wiggins’ deflected free kick put Holbeach ahead for the first time before Ben Wiggins rounded off a superb comeback.

Leverington Sports Res 3 Pinchbeck Utd Res 4: Pinchbeck stretched their winning run to three – but with eight first-choice players out and 2-0 down at half time, a comeback looked unlikely.

Ricky Dickinson headed in an excellent free kick from Chris Beale, but Dickinson then conceded a converted penalty.

Pinchbeck keeper Jez Hudson clawing back a goalbound header seemed to spur on his team-mates.

Another perfect delivery from Beale was converted via the impressive Aiden Moore and Ryan Wheeler made it 3-3. From then there was only one winner and Jack Wycherley coolly slotted in a penalty following a foul on stand-in skipper Dan Thornalley.

Special mention goes to debutant Lee Haslam.
