Spalding United’s FA Vase dream is officially over after the FA rejected their appeal today (Thursday).
The Tulips, third favourites to win the national competition this year, were kicked out of the Vase on Monday after fielding the ineligible Garfield Robinson in their 3-0 win at Walsall Wood in the second round.
Although Spalding argued that they had no idea the player was suspended under the assumed name of ‘Louis Robinson’, their appeal at the FA’s Wembley headquarters fell on deaf ears.
Walsall Wood have been reinstated as a result, meaning they will now host the Tulips’ UCL Premier Division rivals Wisbech Town in the third round on Saturday (3pm).
Spalding, who have yet to comment on their expulsion from the Vase, are now without a game this weekend.
