DOUBLES from Jamie Stevens and Andrew Tidwell guided Holbeach United to a 5-0 win over Thrapston Town on Saturday, while Spalding United were dumped out of the FA Vase and Pinchbeck United beat rivals Moulton Harrox 2-0 in the ‘mini clasico’.
The five-star Carter’s Park showing moves the Tigers up to fifth in the UCL Premier Division, with Tommy Treacher bagging the other goal.
But it wasn’t such a good day for Spalding in the Vase, with Tividale handing them a 3-0 Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.
The exit leaves Andy Stanhope’s Tulips with no silverware left to play for this season – and the pre-season title hopefuls have now lost seven of their last nine games in all competitions.
Deeping Rangers did progress to round three, though. They came from behind to defeat UCL Premier Division rivals 4-1 at Outgang Road, with Josh Moreman, Matt Heron, Mark Jones and Dave Burton-Jones the scorers.
Elsewhere, goals from Keith Gray and Ian Dunn earned Pinchbeck a deserved victory over Harrox in the Peterborough Premier Division.
At a foggy Knight Street, United keeper Lee Drury kept a fifth clean sheet on the spin as his side moved up to second in the table.
Crowland Town lost 6-2 to Uppingham Town and Deeping Rangers Reserves went down 2-1 at Parson Drove in the same division.
In UCL Division One, Bourne Town were also beaten, 4-1 at Sileby Rangers.
