Glen Maddison sees no reason why his Holbeach United side can’t go on an exciting FA Cup run.

The UCL Premier Division champions host Norwich United in the extra preliminary round on Saturday (3pm), with the winners set to trouser £1,500 in prize money.

If that carrot isn’t big enough for the Tigers, a potential trip to Spalding United is on the cards in the next round. But the much-fancied Tulips have a big selection crisis and there’s no guarantee they’ll beat Eynesbury Rovers in their tie.

Maddison watched Norwich beat Kirkley and Pakefield 1-0 in the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League Premier Division on Tuesday, as they made it two wins on the trot.

But he’s confident of success at Carter’s Park. The Tigers boss said: “They are a good, physical side and looked very effective.

“Let’s be honest, the FA Cup is about money at this level and it’d be good for the club if we can go on a run.

“It’s a tough tie, but one we can certainly win.”

Julian Joachim (hamstring) is a doubt after missing Wednesday night’s 2-1 loss at Huntingdon Town, while Curt Yeatman was also forced off at Jubilee Park.
