FOOTBALL: Six-star Pinchbeck take command

A CRUNCH weekend in the Peterborough and District League Premier Division saw Pinchbeck United take command of the title race.

While their two main title rivals Ramsey Town and Uppingham Town were busy drawing 1-1, United slammed six past Oundle at Knight Street.

Jamie Cartlidge (2), Lee Marshall (2), Ian Dunn and Mark Lovelace fired the goals for Pete Roberts’ in-form charges in a 6-2 romp.

Pinchbeck are now just three points behind table-topping Ramsey with two games in hand.

One of those is a home derby with Crowland Town tomorrow night (6.30pm).

Moulton Harrox were also in stunning form in the top flight.

They bounced back from last week’s derby defeat to Pinchbeck with a crushing 7-0 success over Alconbury at Harrox Field.

David Kantak led the spree with a hat-trick, while Joe Townsend (2), Joshua Ford and Sam Munton were also among the goals as Moulton moved up to fourth.

Meanwhile, Holbeach United Reserves have all but retained the Combination League Division One title after an 8-1 win over Eye Sports Reserves.
