ASHLEY Stevens hit four as Holbeach United crushed Daventry United 6-1 on Saturday, while Spalding United drew 1-1 at Irchester United and Deeping Rangers thrashed Northampton Spencer 5-0.

The Tigers were rarely troubled in the away UCL League Cup clash, with Wes Lewis and Mitch Griffiths joining Stevens – who now has 12 for the season – on the scoresheet.

Their reward is a trip to rivals Spalding United at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field in the next round.

In the UCL Premier Division, the Tulips could only manage a draw at lowly Irchester – a side they thumped 7-0 just last month. Ben Harris was their scorer.

It’s now two draws on the spin against sides near the foot of the standings for Andy Stanhope’s side, following last Tuesday’s 3-3 thriller with Sleaford Town.

There was no such trouble for Deeping though, who were inspired by a Mark Jones hat-trick at Outgang Road. Fellow strikers Tony Battersby and Josh Moreman also got in on the act.

In UCL Division One, Bourne Town were handed only a second reverse of the season as Rothwell Corinthians handed out a 4-0 beating at the Abbey Lawn.

Meanwhile, there was drama galore in the Lincs Junior Cup as Moulton Harrox, Pinchbeck United and Long Sutton Athletic all progressed after a penalty shoot-out.

Andy Law scored as Pinchbeck were held 1-1 by Waddington United at Knight Street, but they prevailed 3-2 on spot-kicks.

Goals from Jamie Cartlidge and Steve Mastin earned Harrox a 2-2 draw at Cleethorpes Town before the shoot-out, while Sutton were involved in 3-3 cracker against Louth Town at London Road. Lawrence Brandon, Matthew Radeloff and Ryan Lennon were their scorers.

Crowland Town also progressed as goals from Chris Thomas and Sean Treagus accounted for AFC Brumby 2-0.

In the ChromaSport and Trophies Peterborough League, David Weston, Matthew Simpson and Thomas Waumsley fired Deeping Rangers Reserves to a 3-1 triumph at Oakham United.

See Tuesday’s Lincs Free Press for more on the weekend football.
