New Holbeach United manager Glen Maddison is under no illusions as to the size of his task at Carter’s Park following a mass exodus of players.

The Tigers moved quickly to appoint their new man on Thursday after previous boss John Chand resigned from the United Counties League champions on Monday night.

But Maddison faces a complete rebuilding task as virtually of all of the title winning squad has quit.

“It’s an uphill task. I knew it was a rebuilding job when I took it,” he said. “We have to build a base from nothing.”

As well as the reported exits of Jamie Stevens, Adam Jackson and Jonny Allen to Spalding, Rob Hughes has left for Yaxley and Andy Toyne for Lincoln United.

Deeping look set to sign Tommy Treacher and Craig Parker, Jason Turner is Rushden-bound, Derwayne Stupple and Wes Lewis have left and Deeping and Wisbech are looking to secure the signature of Andrew Tidswell.
