Darren Munton is to stay on as Bourne Town manager after performing a U-turn on his decision to resign.
The club legend had quit as Wakes boss following Saturday’s 3-1 loss at Olney Town, which stretched the club’s winless start in UCL Division One to seven matches.
But he was persuaded to tear up his resignation letter at an emergency meeting at the Abbey Lawn on Monday night.
Munton said: “Things haven’t been good enough on the pitch and that’s why I planned to step aside, but I would never leave the club in the lurch.
“The response from everyone at the club in wanting me to stay on and some kind words from other local managers made me change my mind.”
The popular boss will resume charge of his beloved Bourne in Wednesday night’s Abbey Lawn derby with Blackstones (7.45pm).
