MOULTON HARROX 1 OUNDLE TOWN 3: MOULTON’S unbeaten start to the Peterborough Premier Division season came to a crushing end on Saturday.

A combination of inept finishing and an inability to cope with Oundle’s counter attacking style proved to be their downfall, despite a late strike from Tom Panton.

The impressive Darren Paling hit the bar from range early on, but Moulton soon found their feet.

Steve Mastin, who ran the show, Jamie Cartlidge and Jon Ball all went close, before a fortuitous Eric Makate effort put Oundle ahead against the run of play.

After the break Cartlidge spurned a great chance to level with the goal gaping – and it cost Harrox big time, as Chris Beeby doubled Oundle’s money.

Shell-shocked Moulton then fell 3-0 down when Dean Clarke struck, effectively ending the game as a contest.

Panton headed home on 82 minutes to reduce the arrears, but it was too little, too late for the hosts.
