PETERBOROUGH & DISTRICT FOOTBALL LEAGUE: Long Sutton Athletic moved joint top of Division One with an impressive 6-0 win at Stamford Bels on Saturday.
Jake Clitheroe scored the opener within the first two mins, before Matty Cawthorn made it 2-0 at half time. On-song Clitheroe went on to complete his hat-trick after the break, with Cawthorn and player/manager Vinnie Mackie completing the scoring. The win moves the Magpies level with King’s Lynn Town Reserves on 20 points.
• After two draws and a week off Holbeach United Reserves got back to winning ways with a 5-1 Division One victory at Ryhall United. Scott Gardner slotted home the opener from a Dave Wilson pull back, before Wilson doubled the advantage on the half hour. A couple of top Adam Kirk stops kept Holbeach ahead, before John Smith and a Ryhall player were sent off
The hosts pulled one back from a corner, but Jack Smith soon restored the two-goal cushion from 25 yards There was still time for Smith and Wilson to bag another each and round off the rout. • Pinchbeck United Reserves lost a ten-goal thriller 6-4 against Langtoft United Reserves in Division Two.
Despite dominating possession Pinchbeck fell 2-0 down early on at Knight Street, before goals from Jamie Cartlidge, Jack Chilvers and Ash West put them 3-2 up. But goals either side of the interval saw Langtoft move ahead again, with the fourth goal a fortunate cross which caught the wind. Sam Atkinson, who earlier had a goal ruled out, levelled again with a long range curling effort, but two late breakaway goals sealed the win for the visitors.
