ROTHWELL TOWN 3 (Gilkes 46, Henson 60, Burns 79) BOURNE TOWN 4 (D Mason 26, Brockbank 62 & 75, Kamau 84): JOSH Kamau fired a debut decider as the Wakes secured a first UCL Division One win in nine games.
In a drab first period, midfield ace Dan Mason fired Bourne into a 1-0 half-time lead.
The game turned on its head after the break though, with Louis Gilkes levelling for Rothwell immediately after the restart.
Jordan Henson then put the Bones ahead, only for Alex Brockbank’s double to fire the Wakes into a 3-2 lead.
It was level again when Jamie Burns struck 11 minutes from time, but Kamau jumped off the bench to bag the clincher for Darren Munton’s side in the closing stages.
Although seven goals were scored, the Wakes player/boss admitted it was far from a classic – not that he cared one jot.
Munton said: “It was a shocking game of football.
“But it was all about getting the three points by whatever means necessary.
“Performance-wise we still have a hell of a long way to go, but hopefully the win will give the lads a bit of confidence.”
