Spalding Inter-Services Cup final: HOLBEACH UTD RES 4 (Smith 3, Congreve) LONG SUTTON ATHLETIC 0: JACK Smith delivered on his promise to notch a hat-trick as the Tigers roared to a deserved final victory on Saturday night.

The Holbeach hitman told player/boss Adam Kirk that he’d hit a treble in the Carter’s Park clash – and he did just that.

Defender Wayne Congreve was the other scorer in an emphatic win.

A delighted Kirk said: “It was just a good team performance. Jack deserved to be man of the match, it’s not often someone promises a hat-trick and does it.

“I think the whole team deserved it. We can still finish second in the league, so it could be a great season for both Holbeach teams.”

Sutton supremo Vinnie Mackie accepted that Holbeach were deserved winners.

He said: “We played well but in the end Holbeach were a bit too good and they took their chances.”
