PARSON DROVE 0 PINCHBECK UNITED 2: IAN Dunn admitted the Peterborough Premier Division title is now Pinchbeck’s to lose after they moved five points clear at the top on Saturday.
A Dan Woods strike and Matt Hocking’s 35-yard stunner fired United into a 2-0 lead at the break, something they held onto comfortably in the second half.
Influential skipper Hocking was withdrawn at half time after picking up a knock, but he’s likely to be fit for this weekend’s trip to Peterborough Sports.
With nine league games and two cup finals still to play, player/boss Dunn reckons his side are rediscovering something like their best form.
He said: “It was a good weekend for us really. I wouldn’t say we were fantastic, but we got the job done in difficult, windy conditions.
“At this stage of the season I’m only interested in results and I don’t care how we get them.
“It’s fair to say that the title is ours to lose – and it probably has been for a while now.
“We’ve had a little wobble, but we’ve got back to being tough to beat, which is what we do best.”
Pinchbeck: Drury, Clay, Maddison, Marshall, Hocking (McDonnell), Gray, Maltby, Wilson, Law (Kishere), Woods (Relf), Dunn.
• Saturday: Peterborough Sports v Pinchbeck (3pm).
• ASH Gedney and Tom Panton fired Moulton Harrox to a cracking 2-0 win at Coates on Saturday.
There was a thriller at Netherton United as Deeping Rangers Reserves picked up a 3-3 draw, Dan Ireland bagging twice and Sam Thompson also among the goals.
Elsewhere, Simon Ingram (2) and Sean Treagus earned Crowland a 3-1 win at Oundle.
