FOOTBALL: Heron double keeps Rangers rolling

MATT Heron’s brace fired Deeping Rangers to a 2-0 derby success over Yaxley on Tuesday night.

It’s now 12 games unbeaten for Tuncay Korkmaz’s side, who move level on points with fifth-placed Holbeach United in the UCL Premier Division.

The in-form Heron fired Rangers ahead inside seven minutes at Outgang Road, finishing superbly after a Kev Gilbert through ball.

Number two arrived just after half time, when Heron swooped to nod home his 26th of the season from Kevin Brader’s cross. He could have had a hat-trick soon after, but was denied by a smart Lea Jordan save.

Deeping: Doughty, Tinkler, Jackson, Simpson, Julian, Weston, Gilbert (Barber), Holt, Ginty (Jones), Heron (Bradbury), Brader.

Tuesday’s UCL Premier Division results: Deeping Rangers 2 Yaxley 0; King’s Lynn Town 5 Stewarts & Lloyds Corby 0; Newport Pagnell Town 6 Northampton Spencer 2; St Ives Town 5 Boston Town 1.
