FOOTBALL: Great weekend for Pinchbeck as leaders reeled in

PINCHBECK UNITED 2 EYE SPORTS 0: EVERYTHING went right for Pinchbeck at the weekend as their winning run continued.

Goals in each half from Tom Gosling and Andy Law moved third-placed United to within striking distance of Peterborough Premier Division leaders King’s Cliffe United.

Gosling applied the finishing touches to Ian Dunn’s goal-bound header on 20 minutes, before Law wrapped up the points in the closing stages.

With the leaders being held and second-placed Coates losing, player/boss Dunn is delighted with how things are shaping up for his side – who haven’t lost since August 20.

He said: “It was a great weekend all-round really. We didn’t deliver a vintage display, but were very organised and got the job done. 2-0 flattered them if I’m honest.

“I never doubted that we’d come good. We’ve got a settled squad now and have a big November ahead.

“If we can win every game this month, which we’re capable of doing, it’ll set us up for a great season on all fronts.”

• Deeping Rangers Reserves are hot on Pinchbeck’s heels in fourth after goals from Anthony Graves and Matt Atkins helped them win 2-1 at Coates, while Jamie Cartlidge earned Moulton Harrox a 1-1 draw at Peterborough Sports.
