Mont Pell Trophy final: FENWAY 4 (Wheeler, Gordon 2, Placis) LUTTON 0: TWO goals from man-of-the-match Martin Gordon inspired Fenway to an emphatic success on Sunday.

After a cagey opening to the all Spalding Sunday League Division Two affair at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field, Ryan Wheeler fired home the opener from just outside the box on 15 minutes.

The goal lifted Fenway and they played some super stuff before doubling their lead when Gordon buried a Wheeler pass.

Lutton were much improved in the early stages of the second half, but they were hit by a third Fenway goal when Gordon nodded home Tom Elderkin’s accurate cross.

A late defensive mix-up allowed Aris Placis to complete the rout with a tidy finish, allowing stand-in skipper Dave Endersbee and injured captain Scott Phillips to lift the trophy.

Fenway dedicated the win to Sam Atkinson, who is serving his country in Afghanistan.
