DEEPING RANGERS 4 S & L CORBY 0: Mitch Griffiths struck twice in a man-of-the-match display on Saturday to fire Deeping up to third in the UCL Premier Division standings.
In what was a Rangers’ first game in nearly three weeks, Dan Flack and Spencer Tinkler were also on target at Outgang Road.
Although Rangers chief Tuncay Korkmaz felt his side were a little rusty, he was happy enough with the comfortable home success.
The Turkish tactician said: “We’ve had a bit of an unwanted break and it has done us no favours really.
“You could tell we were a bit short on Saturday, but I can’t ask for much more than a 4-0 win.
“We had a few difficult spells early on, but were pretty dominant in the second half.”
Griffiths put Deeping ahead in the sixth minute, smashing home after Ryan Oliver flicked on James Doughty’s long kick forward.
Jamie O’Neill rattled the post at the other end as Rangers rode their luck before the break, but it was one-way traffic in the second period.
Number two arrived when Flack’s cross-come-shot looped into the far corner on 53 minutes.
It was 3-0 when sub Alex Beck broke down the left and crossed for Griffiths to bag his second on the turn.
Defender Tinkler then completed the rout four minutes from time with a stunning 20-yard volley after a corner was headed clear.
