Deeping Rangers hammered Lincolnshire rivals Sleaford Town 9-0 in the UCL Premier Division on Saturday, while Holbeach United tonked Harborough Town 6-1 and Spalding United needed a last-minute leveller to draw 2-2 at Yaxley.

After the disappointment of Tuesday night’s 1-0 home loss to Peterborough Northern Star, Deeping were back at their irresistible best to keep themselves in touch with the top four.

Matt Heron slotted home the only goal of a largely even first period, but it was total one-way traffic after the break.

Sub Ash Stevens weighed in with an 11-minute hat-trick (70, 73 & 81), while Dave Burton Jones (47), Alex Beck (51), Scott Ginty (56 & 71) and Harry Deane (80) all got themselves on the scoresheet as Tuncay Korkmaz’s men fired eight goals in just over half an hour.

Holbeach were also in a free-scoring mood as they too bounced back from a 1-0 midweek loss at Blackstones.

Mitch Griffiths (3, pens 6 & 60) helped himself to a hat-trick, with Andy Toyne (28 & 55) and Rob Hughes (15) also getting among the goals.

With leaders St Ives Town beaten 3-1 at home by Quorn, John Chand’s Tigers are now seven points off the pace with two crucial games in hand.

But Spalding were held to a second draw on the spin as they slip down to third. Yaxley twice went ahead at Leading Drove, but the Tulips battled back for a share of the spoils.

Down in UCL Division One, Bourne Town were beaten 2-0 at Rushden and Higham.
