YAXLEY 0 DEEPING RANGERS 5 (Heron 5, Moreman 11&28, Holland (og) 60, M Jones 90): Freescoring Deeping slammed in five more goals in a fifth straight win.
With the confidence of seeing off Holbeach, Spalding, Desborough and Rushden and Higham – scoring 17 goals in the process – there was no stopping Rangers during Saturday’s first half with wave after wave of attacking football.
Even before the fifth minute when Matt Heron headed Rangers ahead, the same player had hit the bar and Josh Moreman had squandered a chance, hitting the ball straight at Yaxley keeper Tom Roberts, when clean through.
Yaxley then had their best chance, but when Davey found himself in front of goal, with no defender or keeper in the way, he somehow contrived to miss, shaving a post in the process.
In the 11th minute, Josh Moreman earned the appreciation of the crowd with a fine individual goal. Cleverly working his way in from the byline, skipping round a defender, he blasted the ball home from an acute angle to give the visitors a two-goal lead.
At this time Rangers’ play was breathtaking and more goals seemed certain.
Kevin Gilbert had an effort cleared off the line, but Rangers killed the game off when Moreman connected with a Mark Jones cross to make it 3-0 on 28 minutes.
Rangers remained firmly in control and got a fourth goal on the hour when after a mix-up in defence, Matt Holland placed the ball into his own net.
With tough-looking fixtures against Holbeach and Long Buckby coming up, Rangers manager Tuncay Korkmaz rung changes for the final half hour.
Towards the end of a miserable afternoon for Yaxley, Moreman again found himself clear through only to shoot wide, but Jones got goal number five in time added on with a long range effort which fooled Roberts.
