DEEPING RANGERS 5 DESBOROUGH TOWN 1: Five-star Deeping began a potentially pivotal week in their season by blowing Desborough away on Saturday.

Dave Burton-Jones (2) put Rangers ahead early on, only for Aidan Bradshaw (4) to hit back instantly for Ar Tarn.

That was as good as it got for the visitors as Scott Ginty (11), Ryan Oliver (70), Mitch Griffiths (71) and Spencer Tinkler (pen 88) all notched to put the game to bed. Desborough did have Mark Forbes sent off while the score was 2-1 though – and Deeping boss Tuncay Korkmaz felt that was the pivotal moment in the match.

He said: “I felt the score flattered us a little. We deserved to win, but not by 5-1.

“It was very close for most of the game, but the red card and third goal killed them and it got easier for us.”

Deeping, now third in the table, have huge home games against Huntingdon Town (tonight, 7.45pm) and Yaxley (Saturday, 3pm) next up.

And, with games against top two Spalding United and AFC Rushden and Diamonds still to come, Korkmaz is excited about what lies ahead.

The Turkish tactician added: “The next two games are tough, but so are the rest. You must look forward to these kind of games.

“We looked very sharp against Desborough and I hope that will continue.”

Craig Parker and Mitch Griffiths will miss the Yaxley game through suspension.

Rangers: Doughty, Flack, Braithwaite, Tinkler, Cartwright, Burton-Jones, Gilbert (Beck 73), Ginty, Oliver, Heron (Bogusz 73), Griffiths (Parker 73). Not used: Simpson, Ashton.
