Tuncay Korkmaz has admitted that winning the UCL Knockout Cup is top of Deeping Rangers’ wish list this season.
Deeping welcome talented UCL Division One leaders Oadby Town to Outgang Road for a glamorous quarter-final on Saturday (3pm), weather permitting.
And Korkmaz is determined to end the club’s trophy drought, which dates back to a Hinchingbrooke Cup success in 2008.
He said: “It’s a very important competition for us. Winning a trophy is bigger than one or two league places in my opinion.
“I said at the start of the season that we wanted to finish higher in the league than last year and win a trophy. I stand by that.
“It’s going to be an interesting game. They’ve got a lot of quality and we know it’ll be tough. But we’re at home and that will hopefully give us the edge.”
Mitch Griffiths is suspended, but defender Stacy Cartwright (hamstring) could return. Deeping are also hoping to hold onto Ryan Oliver after a seven-day approach from rivals Huntingdon Town.
