DEEPING RANGERS 2 (Logan 56, Burton-Jones 82) SHEPSHED DYNAMO 1 (Jackson OG 47): David Burton-Jones fired a late winner as Deeping battled back to notch a first UCL Premier Division win of the season on Saturday.
The versatile midfielder struck with eight minutes remaining at Outgang Road, slamming home a low drive to sink a Shepshed side that were relegated from step four last season.
Nick Jackson had earlier put through his own net as Dynamo went ahead in the opening exchanges of the second half, before Chris Logan headed an equaliser from a set piece.
Constant heavy rain made for an attritional opening period, although Alex Beck, Harry Deane and Spencer Tinkler all forced the Shepshed keeper into smart saves.
As the half drew to a close Dynamo were fortunate not to be reduced to ten men, with the already booked Liam Fitzpatrick lucky not to pick up a second yellow card.
Having bossed the first period, Deeping were hit by a sucker punch straight after half time when Jackson bundled the ball into his own net.
Rangers refused to accept defeat though – and they were soon level when defender Logan netted with a towering header.
Deane almost put Deeping ahead when he latched onto a Michael Byrne cross, before Burton-Jones saved the day in the closing stages.
His winner makes it four points from two games against Leicestershire duo Shepshed and Quorn.
