BOURNE TOWN 4 BUCKINGHAM TOWN 2: Bourne finally smashed their ten-game winless streak with a vital victory over fellow strugglers Buckingham on Saturday.
Rob Dunn helped himself to a brace at the Abbey Lawn, with Johnny Currall (penalty) and Danny Pick also on target for Darren Munton’s men.
The Wakes’ second UCL Division One win of the season moves them out of the bottom two ahead of tomorrow night’s trip to local rivals Peterborough Sports (7.45pm).
Heavy rain did leave the picture in doubt prior to kick-off – but nothing was about to stand in Bourne’s way and the game went ahead.
After 44 goalless minutes, Dunn eventually made the breakthrough a minute before half time.
The lead didn’t last too long though, with Max Risby nettting a leveller for Buckingham nine minutes into the second period.Far from going into their shell, Munton’s men responded superbly and went back ahead through Dunn’s second four minutes later.
Bourne then gave themselves some breathing space when Currall notched their third from the penalty spot on the hour.
The Wakes were in dreamland when Pick notched number four 15 minutes from time, rendering Dom Schembre’s injury-time strike as mere consolation.
After tomorrow’s trip to Peterborough, Bourne visit Rothwell Corinthians on Saturday (3pm).
