DESBOROUGH TOWN 1 DEEPING RANGERS 8: Deeping’s goal-den run of form continued as they demolished Desborough on Saturday to stay top of the UCL Premier Division table.

Alex Beck (18, 21 & 80) helped himself to a third hat-trick of the season, with Josh Moreman (1 & 82), Ryan Oliver (37 & 60) and Mitch Griffiths (32) also getting in on the act.

It’s now nine league wins on the trot for Tuncay Korkmaz’s table-toppers, who are averaging over four goals per game in the UCL Premier Division.

Next up are strugglers Boston Town at Outgang Road tonight (Tuesday, 7.45pm) – and Korkmaz is keen to keep the run going.

He said: “We’ve always struggled at Desborough in the past, so to win 8-1 gives us a lot of confidence.

“Our first three goals were special individual efforts and that really gave us the perfect start.

“Obviously Spalding are favourites for the title at this stage, but we are spicing things up a bit. I’ve always said that improving on last season is the aim – and if we can get in the top three I’d be delighted.

“But the focus is on our next game and that’s Boston. At the moment our offensive prowess is very impressive and all we can do is keep the pressure on by winning.”

Deeping needed just 50 seconds to get the ball rolling, as Moreman rifled a 25-yard stunner into the top corner.

They increased the lead on 18 minutes when Griffiths found Beck, who took a touch and drove the ball low into the corner.

A one-two between Griffiths and Beck then allowed the latter to drive home his second three minutes later.

That man Griffiths lashed home number four, before he crossed for Oliver to smash home his first from the edge of the box to make it 5-0.

Will Arnold (57) grabbed a Desborough consolation, but that sparked a Rangers reaction of three more goals.

Oliver rose to head his second from a Griffiths cross on the hour, before skipper Dave Burton-Jones slipped a pass through for Beck to complete his treble ten minutes from time.

Not done there, Moreman completed the rout with a late solo strike.

The only bad news for Deeping was in injury to defender Stacy Cartwright. He joins a lengthy injury list and misses tonight’s clash with Boston.

Deeping: Doughty, Gilbert, Parker, Tinkler, Cartwright (Ashton 33), Burton-Jones, Griffiths (Odain 76), Oliver, Beck, Heron, Moreman. Not used: Holt, Ginty.
