Spalding United enjoyed a winning start to their pre-season campaign with a 2-0 triumph over Crowland Town on Saturday.

Winger Lee Beeson netted both goals for the Tulips at a sun-drenched Snowden Field to get Pat Rayment’s charges up and running ahead of what promises to be an exciting campaign for the Sir Halley Stewart Playiing Field club.

Next up is a trip to Hucknall Town on Saturday (3pm).

Meanwhile, young Spalding keeper Jordan McCready has been snapped up by League Two outfit Chesterfield. He joins the former FA Cup semi-finalists on a scholarship.
