SPALDING supremo Pat Rayment felt his side were unfortunate to take nothing from the game at Holbeach – and didn’t agree that Paul Goodhand’s winner was a cracker...
He said: “We were very unlucky, but that’s football. The team showed real character after conceding a couple of soft goals and looked capable of nicking it at the end.
“Their winner may have looked spectacular, but it’s taken a bounce and is poor from our perspective. Nick Conroy had a good game and has been brilliant all season, but he’ll be disappointed with that.
“Performance-wise it was good and it’s the third game on the trot that we’ve played well, which is a good way to end the season.
“The referee didn’t let the game flow much, which was a low point – as was the stupidity at the end.
“I can’t control what happens off the field of play and there were a few scuffles, but it’s all done and dusted now. If they want to fight, it’s got nothing to do with me.
“Obviously I’m disappointed at the final result, you never want to lose. But I’m really happy with the effort the lads put in.”
