BIG FREEZE: Weekend fixtures wiped out

SATURDAY, 12pm - SUB-ZERO temperatures across the country have decimated the sporting schedule this weekend, with none of our major teams in action.

In football, Spalding United’s Evo-Stik League First Division South clash with Leek today (Saturday) is off due to a frozen pitch at the Sir Halley Stewart Playing Field.

The Tulips’ next scheduled fixture is against Glapwell on New Year’s Day.

Every other game in the league is also off.

It’s a similar story in the UCL Premier Division, with Holbeach United’s trip to Daventry United and Deeping Rangers’ fixture at Northampton Spencer both biting the dust. Bourne Town’s Division One game at Thrapston has also been called off.

The entire Peterborough and District League schedule is also a write-off, meaning Pinchbeck United and Moulton Harrox will be kicking their heels.

Meanwhile, Spalding RFC’s Midlands One East rugby fixture at Mansfield was also beaten by the weather.
