Steve Appleby has sensationally quit as joint-manager of Holbeach after just seven days.
Appleby agreed to join title-winning boss John Chand as joint manager last Wednesday following the resignation of Glen Maddison but today he contacted the Spalding Guardian to say he has changed his mind.
Appleby, who won the UCL title in his only season as a player at Carter’s Park, said: “I was excited when I was asked to be joint-manager but I hold my hands up and admit it was a mistake.
“My decision has got nothing to do with Holbeach, as it’s a great club, but any non-league manager will tell you it’s a thankless task. It consumes you 100 per cent and, rather than give it two or three months and then quit, I’d rather be honest and admit I shouldn’t have agreed to return to management.”
