Deepings 16 Bourne 11
Deepings secured the derby bragging rights as they faced Bourne for the first time in more than a decade.
Not surprisingly for a derby match between two teams situated just six miles apart, it was a scrappy affair and was often bad-tempered.
Bourne had one player sent off for punching and three others shown a yellow card while the hosts picked up one yellow.
But the visitors gave Deepings a tough match and were perhaps unlucky to lose a match that could have gone either way.
Bourne went into the game on a high after hammering Corby 75-0 just seven days earlier, but a Deepings try in the closing stages gave the home side enough daylight to hold on for their third victory of the season.
Bourne hit back with a breakaway try right at the death thanks to Tom Westcott, to give the scoreline more respectablity although the visitors missed the conversion as Deepings held on to their five-point cushion.
